  • The Artisan Bar 35-36 London Road Edinburgh (map)

The Singing Street, is the second and most well known of 4 films made by a group of teachers from Norton Park School in Abbeyhill under the name of "Norton Park Productions".  The Singing Street was made in 1951 and depicts pupils playing street games, accompanied by traditional children's songs, at various locations in the city.

The other 3 films in the series are Happy Weekend (1951), The Grey Metropolis: A beautifully shot film showing the city through the thoughts and songs of R.L. Stevenson. (1952) and The Flower and the Straw: Based on Dickens' "Sketches by Boz" and George Cruikshank's etchings which illustrate the book. (1955).

We will be screening the Singing Street daily in the upstairs Lounge at The Artisan Bar on London Road, 12:00-6:00pm.
